When Good Things Come From Decluttering
“If you ever share success stories, here’s one: After recent decluttering, I found an unexpected check for $7,000. It was in a unopened envelope and was from a class action lawsuit that I didn’t even know I was a part of.”
I recently received this awesome news from a client, and it inspired a blog post about all the great things that can happen once you clear the clutter.
Close your eyes, and imagine all the great things that want to come your way: fulfilling relationships, joyful experiences, a rewarding career or life’s purpose, good health, connections and insights that make you feel like you were at the right place at the right time, monetary abundance, miracles. Now visualize your clutter. Imagine the possibility that your clutter could be energetic blockages to all the great things that want to come your way.
Sure, this may sound a little woo-woo, but think about this example. Let’s say a single man wants to find a romantic partner. He keeps telling his friends and family that he wants to find “the one”. He’s good-looking and successful at work. He has no trouble finding dates. But when he invites any women back to his home, that’s when everything falls apart. He has nowhere for them to sit! His couch is cluttered with mail. His fridge just has condiments and a few energy drinks. The décor is “minimal” to say the least. There’s a repelling odor coming from the trash, or the laundry room, or probably both. The AC is set to a very stand-offish, unwelcoming frigid temperature. He even has some of his ex-girlfriend’s belongings in the bedroom. Energetically and physically, there is no room in his home for a new partner. No matter how much he showers her with gifts and affection, he needs to conscientiously make space to warmly welcome someone new into his life. Feng Shui practitioners will even suggest that once the home is decluttered, he could use imagery of couples and pairs of objects (like two vases) to help amplify the energy to welcome a healthy and mutually adoring relationship into his life.
That’s a very literal example of how clutter can block a relationship. But clutter can also block good things in more subtle ways as well. The way you treat and respect yourself is the way others will treat you as well. As you grow your confidence, set and enforce healthy boundaries, and take time to care for yourself and your home, your sense of self-worth will increase. The more you value yourself, the more others will value you. The more you listen to yourself and honor what your body is telling you, the more others will listen to you as well. I know this because I’ve seen it for myself, and I’ve seen it happen for many of my clients as well.
Here’s a personal story. When I was first starting my business and working on establishing my client base, I was also taking a health coaching certification. They taught us that we could only take our clients as far as we were willing to go ourselves. So I looked around my home to see what I was afraid of decluttering. I think any professional organizer will tell you, no matter how organized we are, there is always an area of our homes that could get decluttered. I looked around my home and see where I was blocking clients. I would continually refine little areas like my paperwork, books, and clothes. I was looking for anything that was extraneous. I was looking to complete unfinished business. But more importantly, I was looking for anything that made me feel anything less than my best self. I was also looking for objects that had any tinge of a negative memory. Even though I thought my home was already clutter-free and organized, there were still little things that were adding up in the energy field of my home (and my mind) that were blocking my success. Gradually, I started attracting more and more clients. I became even happier than ever before. And I finally met “the one”!
Processing Clutter and Letting Go & A Challenge For You!
What are you working towards? A fulfilling relationship? More money? A satisfying career? More friends? Better health?
I challenge you to look at the clutter in your home to see what is blocking what you really want. What physical items in your home are subtly diminishing the way you value yourself?
What areas of your home are blocking good things from coming your way? What unfinished business do you have to complete? Where can you let go of past hurts? Where can you give yourself forgiveness? What physical items in your home are subtly reminding you of friction in your life?
Make a small change– declutter that corner, give away something loaded with negative memories, shred some paper who’s only purpose is to make you feel like “you’re not good enough”.
Once you’ve done that, look for evidence that the universe is responding favorably to your actions. It might be something small, like finding a forgotten dollar in a coat pocket, or improving test results from your doctor.
I would LOVE to hear about it! Send me a message so I can continue to cheer you on!
